What are male condoms?

Condoms are the only type of birth control which can also protect against STDs, so if you have already used other ways of birth control (like the pill and vaginal ring), it is also a good idea to use condoms to prevent sexually transmitted infections. Basically, there are two types of condoms: male condoms and female condoms. Among them, the male condoms are the most commonly used method. The male condoms are a thin covering that men wear on their penis during sex. Male condoms prevent pregnancy by blocking semen from entering the vagina. They can also prevent STDs by blocking body fluid such as semen and vaginal discharge for not only vaginal, but also oral and anal sex. Male condoms are usually made from latex or less commonly from polyurethane. 

It's not difficult to use a male condom, but it's very easy to use one in the wrong way. First of all, you had better check the expiration date of the condom and then make sure that there is no hole and scratch on it. You should open the condom carefully along the edge, and don’t use scissors which may break the condom. You should roll the condom onto your penis as soon as your penis erects and before it touches your partner’s body. Squeeze the tip of the male condom to make sure that the air is out and then roll it down on your penis. After sex, pull your penis out of your partner’s body while it is still erect. Take off the condom and make sure that it does not leak. Unlike female condoms, male condoms can be used only once. 

Condoms don't just make your sex life safer. They can make it better as well when you know that you are protecting yourself from both pregnancy and STDs.
