Besides, some people think the “natural skin” condoms can provide a more natural and intimate feel than the latex condoms and thus lambskin condoms regained popularity in the 1980s. Lambskin condoms, like the other condoms, are 98% effective in the prevention of pregnancy when properly used. Lambskin condoms can be used with any types of lubes, including oil-based ones which cannot be used on latex condoms. Lambskin condoms are also an alternative to latex condoms for people with latex allergies.

However, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), natural membrane condoms are not recommended for the prevention of STIs including HIV. They were found to be less effective in prevention of sexually transmitted infections. So lambskin condoms may be a choice for those who are only concerned about preventing pregnancy.

 Latex condoms are cheaper, more common and easier to get.
